Looking for Textured Paint? Why Some Buyers Still Don’t Place an Order

In export sales, we come across this kind of customer quite often.
At first, everything goes well. They ask about textured paint, colors, and prices. Sometimes they send us a few reference photos and ask if we have something similar.
We send the product details and quotation. They seem interested.
Then things go quiet.
We follow up, and they say they are still comparing suppliers. A few days later, they may tell us they need to discuss it with their team. Some customers simply stop replying.
When this happens, it is easy to think that our price might be too high or that the product is not right for them.
But after dealing with more customers, we have learned that this is not always the case.
Some buyers are comparing prices. Others are waiting for a project to be confirmed. And some want to become distributors in their local market but have not yet decided which products to start with or how much they are ready to invest.
In these situations, lowering the price does not necessarily help.

Some Buyers Haven’t Decided What to Start With
We sometimes have customers asking about several products at once. They want to know about microcement, natural stone effects, and different textured finishes.
That makes sense. They may be exploring a new market and still trying to figure out what local customers will like.
But the more products they look at, the harder it can become to make a decision.
For distributors, bringing in too many products at the beginning can also mean a bigger investment. There is stock to consider, samples to prepare, and marketing to plan. Before making the first sale, there is already quite a lot to deal with.
So we usually try to understand the customer’s business first.
Are they mainly selling to homeowners and designers, or working on commercial projects? Are microcement finishes more popular in their market, or are customers looking for textured walls and natural stone effects? Do they already have a project in progress?
Once we understand that, it becomes much easier to narrow down the options.
Having more products is not always the answer. It is better to start with products that suit the market and are easier for the customer to sell.
Price Matters, but It Isn’t the Only Thing to Compare
Of course, every business needs to watch its costs. We understand that customers compare our quotations with other suppliers. We do the same when purchasing raw materials.
But decorative wall coatings are not always easy to compare by price alone.
Two products may look similar in a photo, but the finish, application feel, material consumption, and final result can be different.
On a small feature wall, those differences may not be a big issue. On a hotel, commercial space, or a large residential project, they can become much more important.
That is why we prefer to discuss the sample, application method, estimated coverage, and project area before the order is placed. If a test application is needed, it is better to do it early.
A little more communication at the beginning can save a lot of trouble later.
Need a Textured Paint Supplier?
We are Montage, a decorative wall coatings manufacturer in China.
Our product range includes microcement, textured finishes, and natural stone effects. We work with customers on residential, hotel, and commercial projects.
If you are a distributor looking for products for your local market, tell us a little about your customers and the type of finishes you want to offer. You don’t need to start by ordering a large range of products.
If you already have a project, you can send us the reference photos and approximate area. We can look at the options with you before moving on to samples and pricing.
Of course, we want our customers to place orders. But we’d rather understand what they actually need than recommend a long list of products that may not fit their business.
There is little point in sending samples and discussing prices if the products are not right for the customer in the first place.
